It was fall, and crush time for the grape harvest. The weather was gorgeous, the skies were mostly clear with only a hint of possible rain. I heard (through the grapevine) about a doctor who practiced both traditional and nontraditional medicine, and also owned his own organic winery. This piqued my curiosity. I mean, how many doctors do you know who are farmers? Or, vice versa? In addition, the fact that he began incorporating Rudolph Steiner’s Biodynamic principles years ago when it was a fairly obscure practice here in the States, got me wondering. I knew there had to be an interesting story there, and there was. The bonus was filming the grapes being harvested as the sun rose in the fresh hours of the morning. They were deep in color, at their peak, ready to be devoured.
As you might have noticed, I added a ‘how2’ segment a few shows back. No, it’s not me (remember, my contribution goes on behind the camera). But it is an opportunity for other folks, very passionate about what they do, to share. Jack Campbell, aka Chef Jacques, has some great ideas, which he demonstrates how easy it is to make a can’t-wait-to-dig-in cheese platter. Pairing cheese with wine has always been a natural. And I’m always looking for inspiration and new ideas. Perhaps you are too. Go ahead, it’s a good excuse to invite some friends over and get creative!
