Cooking Up A Story

About Our Partnership With Ecotrust

We would like to recognize the important work of Ecotrust, and to also thank them for their support. Cooking Up A Story requires a considerable commitment of time and resources to produce, and this partnership will help us reach a highly relevant, and committed group of people who care about the environment and promoting social justice. It will also enable us to combine forces in unique ways to produce richer stories that highlight the sustainable food movement. This partnership continues our strive to producing work that will stand the test of time.

Ecotrust

Ecotrust is an international, nonprofit organization that is firmly committed to the notion that the true value of a currency, must not only be measured in bottom-line economics, but more expansively, to include the model of sustainability. This means, economy, along with ecology, and (social) equity, the three requisite legs of a stool, must all stand together—or ultimately fall apart.

Ecotrust divides its mission into five broad areas of commitment: Native Programs; Fisheries; Forestry; Food and Farms; and Citizenship.

Cooking Up A Story has teamed up with Ecotrust to highlight chosen stories from their Food and Farms programs that will also appear online in their Edible Portland magazine. Select Edible Portland magazine articles will also be posted on our Cooking Up A Story site.

Food and Farms seeks to improve public understanding of local agriculture and increase the market share of locally grown food. Below are listed some of the diverse programs representing the Food and Farms ongoing endeavors:

The Farmer Chef Connection Conferences brings local farmers together with local food buyers.

The Edible Portland Magazine shares stories about food, farmers, and the local food community.

National Farm to Schools Program brokers services to local school districts helping them to identify and procure fresh, healthy, locally grown food for public K-12 students.
