Cooking Up a Story: Stories
Those frozen pies that seem to fill the supermarket frozen display bins, where do they come from, and how are these frozen fruit pies made. We discovered one company, the Willamette Valley Fruit Company, in our own backyard that processes fresh picked berries, and within hours, the fresh berries are frozen, and made into frozen pies for shipment. The pie crusts are made from flour and whole ingredients, if you are not able to make your own fresh fruit pies at home, this may be the next best thing. If I accidently defrosted the pie, can I still bake it, if it is not frozen?
I just thought the pie was already baked, and it just needed defrosted….
kinda stupid but true
I wasn’t sure myself, so I went to their website. They had a page dedicated to instructions: http://www.wvfco.com/baking_instructions.php
They say repeatedly to cook from a frozen state. There is a phone number and an email at the bottom of their website. You might consider calling or emailing them your question.
Not stupid at all – don’t most frozen pies say to thaw first?
Good luck – hope it works out for you!
