Transplanting Vegetable Starts for Your Garden

Weston Miller, Oregon State University’s Community and Urban Horticulturist, demonstrates some of the best practices of transplanting vegetable starts for your garden.

Whether you grow your own vegetable starts or purchase them from the store, Miller emphasizes the importance of beginning with healthy plants. He gives practical tips on identifying which ones to buy, followed by ways to transplant herbs, rosette patterned plants (such as lettuce or broccoli), and leeks. He also demonstrates ways to transplant young tomato plants to help insure they grow into vigorous plants with healthy fruit.
