Considering the True Costs of Pasture Raised Pigs (video)

Kendra Kimbirauskas grew up on a dairy farm, and later became a food activist, legislative aide, and small diversified farmer who believes strongly in the humane treatment of livestock.

In this video, Kendra explains the differences between conventional pig farming today, and pasture raised pigs, and why the former is more costly to produce than is commonly understood.

For a first-hand account of factory pig farming, check out this post by Nicolette Hahn Niman, titled Pig Farming Matters.

Most of the videos featured on Cooking Up a Story were produced, filmed, and edited by Rebecca Gerendasy. Fred Gerendasy contributed as a writer to many of the posts and occasionally as the interviewer. Visit Rebecca Gerendasy Clay – Art and Fred Gerendasy Photography to see their current work.
