Living Off the Electrical Grid in America’s Capital (video)

“I’m sure that there are people who absolutely think we’re crazy but for the most part it’s not our friends and family.”—Keya Chatterjee

What’s it take to live off the energy grid in the middle of somewhere? This Washington, D.C. couple took the plunge and converted all their home energy needs to solar electricity. The transition was not easy but as you see in the video they are thrilled with the result.

This video—Living Off the Electrical Grid in America’s Capital is part of the Atlantic Monthly’s To Live Deliberately video series and produced by Sam Price-Waldman.

The series explores what it means to live a life of greater individual meaning and purpose:

  • The Florida Retirement Community Designed for Indians
  • The Wanderlust of #Vanlife
  • The Case for the 32-Hour Workweek
  • Would You Live in a Treehouse?
