Ed and Nancy Arcement, of Abita Springs Farm, have been raising goats on their urban farm since 2004. They have 7 Alpine milking goats which they tend to twice a day, seven days a week. It’s a labor of love. Initially it was their love of cheese making that led them to raising the goats, but over the years the Arcement’s have grown quite attached to their extended goat family.
Recently Nancy came upon the idea of making cuddly goat pillows out of chenille bedspreads and remnant pieces of upholstery fabric. She created a pattern, cut the forms out of the acquired fabric, stuffed with batting, attached faux gems as eyes, and gave each a big hug before deeming it fit for adoption. A year ago she made them available at the annual goat conference and found others loved her goats as much as she does. One week before the conference, she showed us this year’s litter, and, as you’ll see in the video – that’s a lot of kids!
