November 19, 2010 A film that I am looking forward to watching tonight (10pm PST) on NBC/Green is Harmony. Last April, NBC partnered with HRH The Prince of Wales (Prince Charles) in order to bring this conscientious environmental film to a wider audience during their “Green is Universal” programming this month.
“The Prince of Wales has such a passion and vision in providing leadership on this crucial climate issue that confronts the world,” said Executive Vice President for Alternative Programming at NBC and Universal Media Studios Paul Telegdy. “We are honored to partner with him to showcase these issues that are important to American audiences.”
HRH The Prince of Wales has been a stalwart of the environment for decades and is passionate about this issue. And, as many are beginning to realize, our food production has a phenomenal impact. An excerpt from the trailer:
“You have to adopt a more sustainable approach to agriculture, otherwise the long term costs are so enormous on the environment – so in the end you create far more problems by pursuing the more industrialized approach.”
My sense of what I’ve read about this film is that it isn’t all doom and gloom – a picture that has been painted many times over – but one that reveals many inspirational stories from around the globe from people working hard to be good stewards on this planet, to work back toward balance and harmony. The filmmaker, Stuart Sender, says “As we learned while making this film, a harmonious version of the world already exists in miraculous pockets around the globe. From Canada to India, from the United Kingdom to the United States, from organic farms to corporate boardrooms there really is something exciting going on out there.”
And I concur, there are many good actions addressing this issue. But there are still many things we can do toward better change. As HRH The Prince of Wales sums it up,
“Remember, that our children and grandchildren will ask not what our generation said, but what it did. So let us give an answer of which we can be proud.”
If you have the chance to watch it, let me know what you thought of it.
