November 30, 2010 For children living in poverty and going to school in central and northeast Missouri, there is something to look forward to at the end of the week…their buddy pack. Nondescript backpacks are filled at the local food bank with food and snacks by volunteers. The program started just 5 years ago in 3 schools and were feeding around 300 children. Now it extends out to over 80 schools in 32 counties and they help feed over 5,000 school kids each week. The need is expected to grow even more next year.
Could this program possibly work in your community?
