Where’s Food Alliance? Scavenger Hunt

April 09, 2010 Do you remember scavenger hunts? It’s a popular party activity where participants get a list of tasks or items that need to be done or collected and a winner is determined after all is completed. Food Alliance, a nonprofit organization that provides third-party certification to address safe and fair working conditions, humane animal treatment, and careful stewardship of ecosystems in food systems, has created a community event around this fun game.

“Scavenger hunt participants will meet Food Alliance Certified farmers, ranchers, food processors and distributors, learn how Food Alliance Certified products and ingredients are grown and prepared, and discover where to find more socially and environmentally responsible food products.”

It is an opportunity to learn more about where your food comes from, meet others who care about local food, and help support Food Alliance.

Where: Natural Capital Center, 721 NW 9th Ave., Portland (starting point)
When: Saturday, April, 10th, 11am – 4pm
To register: click here

It looks like a good (and fun!) idea that could catch on in other communities too!
